Letters to Ira Peck, 1841-1842.

The collection consists of letters written by Edward Padelford of Savannah, Georgia to Ira Peck of Marion, Twiggs County, Georgia from December 1841-1842. The brief letters were written on the inside page of a printed bulletin, either the Savannah Republican Prices Current or the Savannah Shipping and Commercial List, and pertain to business matters. Topics discussed include the current market of cotton, rice, molasses, and other commodities; shipping times and schedules; and accounts due or paid. The bulletins themselves list Savannah market conditions for various commodities (cotton, rice, etc.), exchange rates, freight rates, list of vessels in ports, and vessel departures and arrivals.
